Please note that you only need to submit ONE application for the Property Management program. Application Steps:

  1. Part 1 of this application will ask three questions to see if your household meets the basic eligibility requirements for the subsidized Property Management program.

  2. Once you have finished and submitted the application, you will see a confirmation screen with a confirmation number. This number is proof that you have finished and submitted the application.
    • If you submit your application and are not taken to the confirmation screen, please call 206-574-1248.
  3. Upon review of the complete application, you will be sent an acceptance letter within 2-4 weeks.

Important Things To Know:

This application takes 15-20 minutes to complete. In order to complete the application, you will need to have the following information:

  • Date of birth for each household member
  • Social Security Numbers for all household members
  • Annual income information for the household (income from all sources, including wages, benefits, child support, etc.)
  • Contact information, including a mailing address where the household can receive U.S. mail.

When you reach the top of the waitlist, prior to being offered a unit, each applicant will be screened for tenant suitability. This screening consists of, but is not limited to, a criminal background check (including drug-related criminal activity), credit check, and a landlord history screening. KCHA will access its own resources for obtaining credit and criminal history checks and verifying information provided at no cost to the applicant household. As such, KCHA will not accept “comprehensive reusable tenant screening reports” prepared by a consumer reporting agency at the direction of the prospective tenant/household for use in the screening process.


Eligibility Requirements:

Family must include at least one household member who is disabled, elderly, 55+ or who qualifies as a dependent (under 18 years of age or is a person with a disability). An unborn child shall not be counted as a dependent except when determining initial program eligibility of a single pregnant woman without other children in the household;

Single-persons (as defined: those who are not elderly, near-elderly or disabled) will not be placed on the waiting list.


Disability Status / Right To Reasonable Accommodation (Does not apply to Project Based Properties)

IF YOU HAVE A DISABILITY as outlined under Section 504 of the Americans With Disabilities Act or State or Local Fair Housing Laws, and require an accommodation that would allow you to live and use your apartment or access facilities in a manner equal to that of a non-disabled tenant, you may qualify for a Reasonable Accommodation. For example if you need:

  • A structural change or repair in your apartment, or a special type of apartment
  • A change or repair in some other part of the housing development; or Housing Authority facilities; or
  • A change in our rules, policies, or how we do things (i.e.: how we communicate with you or give you information).

You may request a Reasonable Accommodation from your local Housing Authority representative, and they will direct you on how to proceed with the process.

Important: To move from one step of the application to another, you must use only the buttons at the bottom of the application. (The Begin button is below. Other steps have Next, Back, Confirm, and/or Submit buttons at the bottom that allow you to go forward and back within the application.) Using ANY OTHER option, including right-clicking with your mouse and selecting Back or Forward, will cause an error and may force you to begin a new application.
